Most gardens have room for a shed of one size or another. But corner garden sheds can be particularly appealing when you’re short on space. Instead of having a square or rectangular shed you will end up with a shed that essentially has one corner cut off at an angle.

This makes it superbly easy to place in a variety of locations. Even if space is tight and you wouldn’t be able to get easy access to a normal shed with a door at one end, you can usually accommodate a corner garden shed with ease.

Small Garden Sheds

Even a small garden shed can make a garden look more appealing, and of course it will be more practical too. All those things you keep elsewhere – such as garden tools and so on – can now be kept in a proper shed in the garden. You can add a padlock to the door to make it nice and secure and it is easy to treat the wood to make it more weather resistant as well.

The best course of action if you want to get one of the small garden sheds on the market today – whether it is a corner shed or otherwise – is to measure your own garden first. You can decide where your shed will go and how big it needs to be. Remember that you can get sheds in all sizes so whatever room you have you are sure to find something that fits.

Small Garden Shed

Storage is important when you only have room for a small garden shed. When you have purchased and erected your new shed, consider what you can do to make the interior well organised and more appealing. A corner garden shed can be a place where everything is put to get it out of the way. But there are lots of ways you can make a small garden shed more spacious.

For example you can put two lines of shelves up along the walls. You can do this around three sides of the shed, or even four sides if you have a corner shed, as you will have two shorter sides to use as well as two long ones. Think about getting plastic stackable storage bins to go inside as well if you have lots of loose items to store away. You may find it takes a while to properly organise the shed so it works well for you and makes the most of the space.

As you can see it is not necessary to have a large shed to be able to store a lot inside it. What matters will be how you use the space you have available. By considering the different places in your garden where you could put a shed and thinking about what size would suit you best, you can find the right solution. Once you know what you need and how to make the most of it, you will enjoy buying and erecting your new garden shed.

Do you ever struggle to find somewhere to put your bike when you’re not using it? It seems we can get pretty creative in finding spots to tuck our bikes away, such as in the hall, hung on the wall of the garage and even in the spare room.

But the best place for a bike is in a bike shed, made especially for this purpose. A bike shed will solve your storage problems without taking up too much space in the process. They’re well made too and come in both tongue and groove and standard overlap apex styles. Whatever your budget is, you’re sure to find just the right shed for your needs.

Wooden Bike Shed

A wooden bike shed is the best option to go for when you’re looking for somewhere to safely store your bike away. It looks much like a normal shed, except that the dimensions are slightly different. The typical size is about seven feet wide by three feet deep, providing plenty of room for your bikes.

The other major difference in design is that instead of having one door on the narrow side, you’ll see double doors on one of the long sides. This means you can throw them both open and get easy access to the interior, ready to get your bikes in or out as you wish. If you have ever tried getting a bike out of a regular shed you’ll know how difficult it can be. By opting for a proper bike shed you’ll have somewhere just for your bikes, so they won’t get damaged or be in the way when you need to get to your gardening equipment.

Of course you will also find that a wooden bike shed is incredibly easy to look after. Once it is erected you just need to give it a protective coat of wood preservative to make it last even longer against the elements.

Bike Storage Shed

The great thing about a bike storage shed is that you can usually fit more than one bike in it. So if you and your partner both have a bike you will easily be able to slot them both in it. You can even keep your helmets and other bike gear in there, such as lights, pumps and water bottles for example. This means you’ll find it easy to locate everything you need whenever you need it.

As you can see there are plenty of reasons to make sure you invest in a bike storage shed. Even if you already have a shed you can still find room for one of these nicely sized bike sheds to fit alongside it, or perhaps elsewhere in your garden. Once you have fitted a lock to the door you will know your bikes are safe and well away from the bad weather.

You might even find you use them more because they are easy to get to and you don’t have to climb over all the garden furniture to get to them!

There’s nothing like a wooden playhouse to really bring out the excitement and imagination in your kids! Most of us remember having a playhouse of some kind when we were young, but they probably weren’t as good or as robust as the ones we see today.

Children’s wooden playhouses are the perfect choice to keep your kids busy and to get them out of the house for some much needed exercise when the weather is good. In fact since they’re so well built, it doesn’t even matter if there is some light rain coming down – they’ll still be warm and dry inside. You might even find you don’t need to coax them away from the television or their computer games once you have a playhouse in the garden to tempt them with!

Playhouses for Children

The great thing about playhouses for children is that there are plenty of different ones to choose from. Some of them are basic playhouses that the kids can store their toys in and use for all manner of different things. Others are built on stilts with a ladder going up to a platform in front of the main playhouse itself. The kids love this type of playhouse because it provides them with playing space underneath the playhouse as well as inside it. What better combination could you give them to ensure they enjoy getting out in the fresh air more often?

You can also get a playhouse that has activity equipment included as part of the design. For example the playhouse that is raised off the ground as mentioned above could have the ladder on one side and a slide off the other, giving the kids two ways to get back down to the ground again!

Another great thing about playhouses for children is that they can often come unfinished, enabling you to paint or stain them in your chosen colour. You can go for a nice green colour to blend in with the garden, or you can choose nice bright colours chosen by your children. Either way you’ll get a nicely decorated playhouse that is going to get your kids out in the open and ready for some exercise.

When you look through the range of playhouses that are available you will also see that they are ideal for both boys and girls. Some might appeal more to boys than girls or vice versa, but there are lots of models that are ideal for both. So whatever you are looking for and whatever amount of space you have in your garden to accommodate a playhouse, you are sure to find something you will love.

And of course, if the kids are outdoors in the fresh air more often, you’ll be able to get on with things indoors while keeping an eye on them too. And who knows, they might even sleep a lot better at night thanks to the sheer entertainment and exercise they’ll get every time they use their brand new playhouse.

If you have a small garden you may think you don’t have room for a shed. But that probably isn’t the case – you just need to take a look around at the wide range of small garden sheds that are available.

You’ll still have a great choice of options as well, because small garden sheds are available in both wooden and metal finishes. So whatever you need and whatever finish you prefer, you’re bound to find the best size and shape shed for your garden.

Perhaps the most basic model and the most familiar one for many people is the 6’ by 4’ standard overlap apex garden shed. This has a door at the narrow end and windows right along one side to let plenty of light in. There is plenty of storage space for all those items you’ll need to store away too. If you want to spend a little more, the same shed style is available in a better quality tongue and groove design as well.

Of course some people prefer buying a small metal shed. How about installing a space saving 7’5 by 2’7 metal shed at the bottom of your garden? You can be sure you won’t get rats or mice trying to eat their way in, and you won’t be bothered by rotting wood either. You’d be amazed at the number of things you can store even in a shed of this size.

If you have a little more room you can get the same width of shed at a slightly bigger depth – 7’5 by 5’ instead. It’s the perfect solution for all those garden implements and accessories you’d like to store away.

Corner Garden Sheds

Another space saving option is to get a corner garden shed. This is ideal for a small space as the door is on one corner rather than one side. You’ll still get easy access even if you’re tight on space, so there is no need to compromise. You’ll still get the shed you want without sacrificing half your garden in the process.

Corner Sheds

Corner sheds are incredibly popular because they are slightly different to the normal design and thus provide a more appealing shed. It can be more practical in small spaces too, because you don’t have to find plenty of room for the door to open.

Small garden sheds are ideal when you have stuff to store away but you don’t want the shed to take over your whole garden. Providing you get some smart storage solutions to organise the interior, you’ll probably find you have more room in there than you would think.

Even if you opt for the 7’5 by 2’7 metal shed, you’re getting two great storage spaces either side of the door in the middle. When you add in the height of the shed you can see just how versatile and appealing it really is.

So why not think about transforming your garden and tidying it up with a great value small garden shed today?

With the clocks put back and that lingering Indian summer well and truly over, attention now turns to winter and all the weather-related problems it inevitably brings.

In the garden, it’s time to down tools and stow away your garden furniture and equipment– and there’s no better way to do it than with one of our metal sheds.

Metal sheds are just what’s required at this time of year, providing a hardy and resilient storage area that stands up to the elements. If the weather forecast is to be believed, we could well be in for one of the most fierce winters of modern times – but a metal shed will shield your property from the storm!

Indeed, to our metal sheds, rain is like water off a duck’s back. Some wooden sheds would absorb the water, leading to issues with damp and rotting in the long term, but you’ll never have to worry about such things with a metal shed.

Our metal sheds are also backed by a rust-free guarantee for 10 years. The well-designed, sloping roofs prevent water from gathering, so no matter how much rain, sleet or snow comes down, you can rest assured it won’t damage the look of your shed.

There’s one other advantage that metal sheds hold over their wooden counterparts: resistance to rodents.

A metal shed is virtually impenetrable to mice, rats and other pests, which is especially important if you plan on keeping plants, seeds or certain edible supplies in your shed.

Our metal sheds don’t just keep out the rodents though – they are also mightily secure against ill-meaning humans too!

Security is, after all, one of the major functions of a garden shed, which is why most of our metal sheds come with fully lockable doors. You might notice too, that our metal sheds don’t have windows – an intentional design feature which keeps your property safely tucked away from any prying eyes.

Metal sheds might not win any prizes for style, and indeed if you’re looking for a stylish addition to your garden space, in keeping with the trees and plants of your outdoor space, a wooden shed or summerhouse would be a better bet.

But for security, storage space and value, a metal shed is hard to beat.

Our sheds range in size from simple 6’x4’ pent sheds, ideal for the lawnmower, to huge 9’x20’ sheds that comfortably accommodate a car with room to spare. Most of the larger models feature lockable, hinged doors, making it easy to manoeuvre even the largest of objects in and out.

So whether you just need a few square feet to store your rake and spade, or your vehicle needs shelter for the winter, one of our metal sheds provides the ideal way to protect your property.

For most, a garden shed is simply a storage space for your garden tools, garden furniture, bikes and equipment. But if you’re a more serious gardener, or are looking for more storage options for work or a hobby, then a wooden workshop is the right choice for you.

Wooden Workshops can offer endless ideas for use, with a range of sizes, designs and structures. For example, if you’re self-employed, instead of renting a workspace and commuting to work why not save time and money and invest in your own workshop?

Similarly, if you’re an artist, the large space, the aroma of natural materials and being in your garden can give you the creativity and practicality that you need.

Furthermore, for mechanics this can be a great facility for working on your own car or others. As you can see the list in endless…

So, with a wide variety of wooden workshops for sale, which is the right choice for you?

Starting with the smallest and cheapest of wooden workshops, a 10′ x 10′ is bigger than your average garden shed and perfect for domestic use. It can also come with large, sturdy and easily accessible double doors, allowing simple maneuvrability of equipment and machinery.

Increasing slightly in size and price, a 15′ x 10′ workshop provides more space and build quality. A good choice of timber for this size of shed is Baltic sourced pine – it’s slow grown and therefore denser and heavier than domestic timber, adding extra strength. This can be further enhanced by installing double framed corners and solid sheet roofing and floor materials.

Finally, a 20′ x 10′ wooden workshop offers maximum workshop capabilities. Ideal for larger garden spaces and supplying increased volumes of storage, this is the shed for any workman/groundsman.

Many wooden workshops are also available with special features or the option of additional extras:

An apex style roof is the optimal selection, allowing increased internal headroom, space for taller storage items, or a hanging area to permit more floor space;

Styrene glazed windows allow plenty of natural light into the wooden workshop and are a safer, shatter proof alternative to glass;

Multiple windows, double door openings, extra security, skylights and potting benches add convenience, accessibility, light and reliability.

With their impressive size and many mod-con features, these wooden workshops are just a small step away from a summerhouse. Certainly, they provide a luxury focal point for your garden and a wonderful opportunity for you to enjoy your work or hobby – especially during the summer!

Whether it’s simply storing garden tools and furniture, your bike, keeping animals, or even creating a summertime garden retreat – a garden shed should be a home from home! If you’re looking to buy a shed, you’re probably looking for a new addition to the home or a replacement for the old one rotting away in the corner! Thus, you will want to spend your money on something that is designed for a purpose, is easy to look after, and that will last for years. Follow these steps to ensure that buying your garden shed was the best decision you ever made!

Step 1 – Considerations

Planning Permission – In most cases you won’t need any permission from the local authorities, but it’s worth checking on the UK government planning portal which can be found, along with other information on all regulations, here: Shed Planning Permission

Base – Your garden shed needs to be built on a secure foundation. Find out more by contacting Customer Services or calling 08448 476 677.

Neighbours – Don’t forget your neighbours! If you build near a boundary, it’s best to advise them during the planning stage, in case you need access to their garden during construction, and so there are no complaints afterwards!

Step 2 – Location

The first thing you need to think about is where you want to put your shed in your garden or allotment. Ensure that you have at least 3 feet (1 metre) of space around the outside of your shed for easy access and maintenance and plan out the area so that there are no obstacles limiting your entry. It’s also a good idea to give your shed some protection from the elements, by placing it near a taller building, a fence or a hedge, which will guarantee a longer durability – especially during the winter!

Step 3 – Choice of Shed

Type: This is the most important step, and therefore the one that requires the most consideration. Remember, you want a shed that is tailor-made to your preferences, that is easy to maintain, and that will serve you long into your old age!

The age-old debate is between wooden and metal sheds. Metal sheds are easy to assemble, highly secure, and can come in an array of colours – often pre-painted. If installed correctly and well positioned a metal shed can adequately perform the job of a wooden one, often at a lower cost and with little maintenance. If you have limited space on your site, then the option of sliding doors can add a benefit as well.

Wooden Sheds, however, are more aesthetically pleasing, cheap to build, warmer, require little maintenance and can be painted or treated also in a range of colours.

Wall Construction: Another consideration is in the type of wall construction, which comes down to overlap versus tongue and groove.

Overlapping is the more traditional method of wall cladding for smaller wooden buildings. It’s simpler, cost-effective, and gives a rustic look, but tends to lack that water run-off characteristic which tongue and groove features.

Tongue and Groove construction, although more expensive, uses a superior construction, often seen on bigger, more complicated structures. It involves interlocking individual pieces of cladding with a tongue and groove profile, giving a rigid structure, better protection against the weather, and a smooth professional finish.

Roof Style: The three most common types of roof style are Apex, Pent and Flat. Apex tends to give more space allowing for greater storage. This design is also good for storing tools and equipment overhead, permitting more floor space for access and larger items. Pent’s design feature permits effective drainage of rainwater and may be the most appropriate choice if near a neighbour’s fence, as it reduces the overall height of the shed. Flat roofs tend to be the least recomendable as, although nicely finished, they collect rainwater which affects the durability of the shed.

Size: Whether you’re looking for: a cheap shed for storing all your garden tools and furniture; a family shed with better features and more accesibility; or a large, professional workman’s shed with space for storing large machinery, Sheds.co.uk has a product range suited specifically to your needs. See our range of Cheap Sheds, Standard Sheds, Deluxe Sheds and Premium Sheds.
