Choosing the right design that works for you
This is where you get to decide how your log cabin will look, and which features it should have. It may be that you have an awkward-shaped garden, which is why you are struggling to find a regular log cabin to suit your needs. Perhaps you simply want something a little different – something to stand out from the rest. If you have a clear idea of the features you want your log cabin to have, you can start making them a reality by completing the initial PDF form.
Think about features such as the doors and windows. Do you want double doors? These are much better if you have a large-scale log cabin. They allow for easy access when bringing furniture and other items into the cabin, and they’re great to have wide open when the weather is good. Remember, this is your log cabin, so make sure you consider every single detail.
As for the windows, the more you have the brighter your cabin will be. You may want floor-to-ceiling windows here and there, or smaller ones that only come halfway down the walls. Another option is to request a small storage area to one side of the log cabin. This could have a separate door leading into it, to provide ample storage while not detracting from the main area inside the cabin.
As you can see, there are many ways to make your bespoke log cabin truly your own. Before you submit your design to us, we’d encourage you to look at the standard log cabin designs for ideas. You might also want to check home and garden websites and magazines, to see if any designs there might inspire you.
Remember, too, that your design will also be influenced by how you wish to use the room. You might be designing it as a home office, or perhaps a games room for the whole family to enjoy. The size you opt for, and where the doors and windows will be placed, will also depend on the floor space you have available, not to mention where any surrounding structures are. These might include fences, walls and trees among other things.
Creating a 3D digital version of your bespoke log cabin
When you want a quote for a bespoke design, you can complete the PDF form we will provide you with. This enables you to provide all the details of the bespoke design you have in mind.
We will then use the information you provide us with to design a digital model in 3D. This enables you to get an idea of how the building will look from every side and angle. If you wish to make adjustments or changes before you order, this is the time to do it. Seeing your design transformed into a 3D digital image is very exciting, and provides a big step forward in the design and ordering process.
When you receive your 3D model, you will also receive a quotation. This will cover the manufacture of the log cabin as well as the delivery cost. As such, when you agree to go ahead, you will know exactly how much the building will cost you. All you need to do then is to organise a base to be built to take the building. You can arrange for this to be laid while we are making your log cabin, so it is ready to erect as soon as it arrives.
A note about planning permission
While sheds are generally easy to erect and have no need for planning permission, this may not be the case for a log cabin. We would always advise you to get in touch with your local planning office to find out whether you need planning permission or not. If you do, you should then apply and wait for the go-ahead before you order your bespoke log cabin from us. Rules can vary from one part of the country to another. It may also depend on the size of the log cabin you wish to have.
Only the very best timber – always the very best service
When you invest in a bespoke design for your log cabin, you want to know you are ordering the very best you can afford. You’ll be pleased to know our products are manufactured from certified sustainably sourced timber, ensuring you can have total confidence in the source of the wood used in for your log cabin.
We use tongue-and-groove cladding to ensure the final build is solid, sturdy and will last for many years. You can choose from 44mm cladding, or go for something thicker – either the 58mm or 77mm cladding. The ideal option for your own log cabin may depend on the size you need. The larger the building, the more likely it is you will require thicker cladding.
