John wanted to create a welcoming place where he and his family could relax, entertain and make the most of their garden, so he chose our Traditional Summer House as the starting point for his project.

After selecting our professional installation service, the building was delivered and assembled on the agreed date. Once the standard summer house was in place, John began putting his own ideas into action, transforming the building into a more spacious and personalised garden retreat.

One of the biggest changes involved extending the usable interior space. John brought the doors forward so they sat flush with the end of the original veranda, then added new external walls to enclose the additional area. To make the new space feel brighter and more open, he also installed an extra window, allowing more natural light to flow into the summer house.

With the structure complete, John turned his attention to comfort. Carpeting was laid throughout the interior to create a consistent finish across the different floor areas, while electrics were added to power lighting, a heater and a radio. These finishing touches helped turn the summer house into a space that could be enjoyed for much more than just the occasional sunny afternoon.

Outside, John added a 4ft fence around the decking area to provide extra privacy and shelter from the wind. The result is a cosy, practical outdoor living space that feels more secluded and comfortable, making it ideal for both quiet evenings and spending time with family and friends.

We asked John how he felt about his new building and whether he was happy with the finished result.

"I couldn't be happier with the summer house, everything went to plan from start to finish and I was even able to complete all my customisations for under £160. The ordering and installation process was simple and completed in good time. The summer house now comfortably seats up to four people and we've just hosted our first family barbecue which was terrific. I've thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and I'd definitely recommend other customers to do similar customisations to improve their summer houses."

John’s project is a great example of how a standard summer house can be adapted to suit your own lifestyle. With a little imagination and a few carefully chosen improvements, he has created a comfortable garden escape that works equally well for relaxing, entertaining and enjoying time with the family.

Now that everything is complete, John is looking forward to making the most of his new retreat and enjoying plenty of peaceful afternoons and summer evenings in the garden.
