Sheds.co.uk, Base Preparation Service
A solid, level foundation is an essential part of preparing for your new log cabin or garden building. A properly prepared base provides a stable foundation for the building and helps ensure it remains level and supported for years to come.
If you would prefer not to prepare the foundation yourself, Sheds.co.uk offers a professional base preparation service for selected garden buildings. Our team can prepare either a slabbed or concrete base, giving you a suitable foundation ready for your new building.

How Our Base Preparation Service Works
Before your base preparation takes place, we will contact you to discuss the proposed installation area and the requirements for your chosen base. This helps us identify any potential issues in advance and explain what to expect when our team arrives.
During the consultation, we may discuss:
- Access to the property and installation area
- The condition and level of the proposed site
- Your chosen slabbed or concrete base
- The size and requirements of your garden building
- Arrangements for materials and site preparation
- The proposed date and expected timescale for the work
- Any questions or specific requirements you may have
We offer a choice of slabbed and concrete bases, subject to the requirements of your chosen garden building and installation site.
Slabbed Base Preparation
A slabbed base provides a firm and level foundation suitable for many sheds, log cabins and other garden buildings.
Our slabbed base preparation service includes:
- Pre-installation consultation and assessment
- Turf cutting and basic site preparation
- Standard paving slabs
- Preparation and laying of the slabbed base
Alternative slab styles may be available at an additional cost. Please discuss any specific requirements with us during your consultation.
Concrete Base Preparation
A concrete base provides a strong and durable foundation and can be particularly suitable for larger or heavier garden buildings.
Our concrete base preparation service includes:
- Pre-installation consultation and assessment
- Turf cutting and basic site preparation
- Aggregate and cement, including delivery
- Concrete mixing and pouring
- Preparation of a solid and level foundation
How Long Does Base Preparation Take?
Many base preparation jobs can be completed within a day, although the actual timescale will depend on the size and type of base, site conditions, access and weather. Any relevant requirements and expected timescales will be discussed with you before the work takes place.
Important Information
The base preparation service includes the agreed labour and materials and assumes that the proposed installation area is reasonably level and suitable for preparation. Additional work or materials may be required where the site is significantly uneven or presents other unexpected conditions.
Please note that we are unable to remove or dispose of excess soil or turf from the property, so suitable space should be available on site for any material removed during preparation.
Our base preparation service is available to selected mainland UK locations and garden buildings. Availability and any applicable restrictions will depend on your delivery postcode and chosen product.
